If your school schedule is similar to mine, midterms are coming up fast! This is the time of the semester when stress really gets loaded on with extra assignments and exam prep! As an English major, I can count on at least 3 essay a week. I’m struggling to keep my head above the water most of the time. This is why it’s important to have a support system, and to take time for myself. Luckily, Sara from Saralaughed.com is currently launching The Sunflower Project to help college students focus on personal wellness.
The sunflower project features a facebook group with weekly posts, prompts, and encouragement to support your health and wellbeing in college. Join the group here, you’ll be glad you did! It’s important in college to have a support group to fall back on when things get rough. Real life friends are great, obviously, but sometimes likeminded peers over the internet can be just what you needed when things get overwhelming.
There will also be an instagram challenge inviting you to focus on growing gratitude! Starting March 7th and continuing for 2 weeks, there will be a daily prompt to spark gratitude in your day to day life. Gratitude is proven to lead to a higher enjoyment of life, so get instagramming! Be sure to tag #growgratitude with each post, I’ll be following along throughout the week!
So here’s some ways to focus on wellness when you feel the weight of the world catching up to you:
- Go for a walk.
- Listen to this playlist.
- Cook yourself something super yummy.
- Workout, even if it’s only for 20 minutes. (Check out the lazy girl’s guide to working out!)
- Watch Harry Potter, it makes everything better.
- Color a coloring book (it’s not just for children!)
- Pet a dog or 12.
- Go to bed early.
- Eat breakfast for dinner (pancakes always taste better at midnight!)
- Watch cartoons.
- Listen to these oldies but goodies.
- Dance it out.
I hope you take part in the Sunflower Project! I’ll be looking for you in the #GrowGratitude challenge. How do you focus on wellness?
