Relaunch of Samanthability!
Good news! I’m alive! Not only am I alive, but I’m finally ready to announce the relaunch of Samanthability!
I’ve been blogging here since 2015, and I’ve changed a lot since then. When I started, I was a sophomore in college and I loved sharing my favorite study tips. From there, it grew to include more of college life: apartment living, working in college, and career search. While I loved blogging about that stuff, It doesn’t fit anymore.
I graduated college a year ago, and it’s been a journey to get here. After graduation, I felt insane pressure to find a “real job.” I felt like I was a failure if I did anything else. I was treating my life like a series of boxes I needed to check. College (check), graduation (check), 9-5 job (check).
It took a while, but I did finally get one of those 9-5 jobs. I knew on day one I’d made a mistake. I stuck it out, assuming something must have been wrong with me. I dreaded waking up every day. I would run out the door at the office at 5 o’clock exactly and scream in my car out of frustration. I was tired of the long commute, the pointless tasks, and working for someone else.
I realized there wasn’t anything wrong with where I was working. I had two options: continue working there or look for somewhere else. But what happens if that new place was the same thing? The same 9-5 routine, the same traffic in the morning, and the same problems?
It took me almost a year, but I finally worked up the courage to quit that job. With no backup plan.
All the while I was working at that “real job,” I was building my freelancing business. I was learning all I could about SEO, digital marketing, and writing for the web. Now, I’m able to get paid more doing what I love: blogging and writing. I get to wake up every morning knowing that the entire day is mine and that I can work from anywhere.
I can finally breathe again.
That’s where this relaunch is coming from. College blogging doesn’t fit anymore. After putting that time in at my “real job,” I don’t think I can comfortably blog about applying to jobs or worrying about grades. That stuff is important, don’t get me wrong, but it’s not me. This new version of Samanthability is all about my new path. It’s about making money your own way and not taking no for an answer.
Oh, and it’s not just this blog anymore. I also have two HUGE projects to announce!
College Blogging E-Book
I’ve been working on a long, comprehensive book sharing my experience blogging my way through college. This is basically my final chapter of blogging in college. I share how I grew my blog from nothing, and how you can too. I use my 3 years of perspective to cut through the nonsense and give clear, effective ways to grow your own blog. My e-book will be released in July, so stay tuned!
Offbeat Grad Podcast
I started a podcast! As you know, I’m a podcast addict. I’ve been wanting to start a podcast for ages, but fear always held me back. I’m tired of not doing things just because they scare me, so I went ahead and pulled the trigger. The first episode of Offbeat Grad is live! You can listen to it wherever you get your podcasts, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! On the podcast, I’ll be talking to other entrepreneurs, bloggers, and money makers! Want to be featured on the podcast? Contact me here!
Those are my big announcements! I’ve been working on this for a while now, and now I’m ready to get back into blogging here on Samanthability. I took a break to get some perspective on where I want to go, and I’m ready to dive in. Stay tuned for more posts about growing your own blog, marketing, SEO, and so much more!
Miss my college content? Don’t worry, it’s not going anywhere! I’ll keep my college blog posts right where they are! I might touch on college blogging every once in a while, but I can confidently say I’m no longer in that niche anymore. It’s sad to see it go, but I’m so excited to take on this new challenge!
Cheers! What do you think of my relaunch? Let me know your ideas and thoughts in the comments!
